Greek Hoplite warrior - Strabax

Strabax (from the Greek strabós for "squint") was a Greek warrior of the Persian and Peloponnesian Wars. He wore a linen breastplate (linothorax) and a bronze Chalcidian-style helmet, lighter than a Corinthian helmet. His shield was depicted as a bull (often used as a sacrifice to the gods), and he carried a short sword called a "Xiphos," a style that would be in use until the Hellenistic period.
